Sun in Leo, Full Moon in Aquarius – Create the Life You Want

July 29, 2023

On Monday, July 31, the moon will enter Aquarius, and on Tuesday, August 1, there will be a full moon in Aquarius. When the sun is in Leo and the moon is in the opposite sign of Aquarius, it is time to be creative.

Today we perceive creativity as a luxury, or a privilege. Not everybody gets to be creative in their work and daily lives. Many of us are burdened with responsibilities and the need to pay our bills.

But creativity is essential for our wellbeing. If we are not creative enough, we disconnect from our ability to create the life we truly want. We learn to settle for things that are just okay for us. Without the creative spark, we might stop recognizing the greatness of what we have and live on autopilot, exhausted from life and from being ourselves.

“Creativity is a fundamental aspect of being human. It’s our birthright. And it’s for all of us.”

~Rick Rubin

Joy vs. Seriousness

Leo creates for joy, fun, romance, and entertainment. Aquarius creates for the benefit of all beings. It wants to change the world, bring advancement and equality to all, and use its brilliant mind for higher causes.

When we manage to live out of joy, despite all hardships and challenges, we already make the world a better place. We add joy to the human macro-cosmos equation, and we inspire others to do the same.

For most of my early life, living out of joy was a foreign concept to me. I was a serious baby, with Saturn on my sun. My parents were serious, my grandparents were serious. Laughter and fun were not a part of my home life. Then my mom died when I was eighteen and life became even heavier.

In my early thirties I tried to let go of this heaviness and live for fun and joy, but I had no idea how to do it, so I got lost with drugs and sexual abuse, which eventually led to a long-lasting depression.

When I started rebuilding my life in my mid-thirties, I slowly found the things that brought me sustainable, healthy, and nourishing joy. They all involved creativity and a balance between doing things for my own good and acting for the benefit of others. Yoga, meditation, astrology, and writing are my creative paths for finding inner growth, wellbeing, and joy, while helping and inspiring others.

Aquarius needs to learn from Leo to lighten up, to allow herself some time for pure fun and entertainment. Life is not just about changing the world and making it better, but also about pleasure, fun, and delight.

Leo needs to learn from Aquarius that living just for the sake of fun, romance, and entertainment is not entirely fulfilling. How many successful performers suffered from depression and drug abuse? To be happy and live in wellbeing, we need to have a higher purpose to live for. We need to live for others and not only for ourselves. We need to be in service to the world at large.

Drama vs. Observing

Even though I do not have a strong Leo or a strong sun in my chart (sun rules Leo), I still have a very strong Leo quality, which is to get caught up in my own drama.

On last week’s post, I shared that I had participated in a podcast and that my session was not aired when it was supposed to. This, together with other factors, got me into a whirlpool of negative thoughts. I started making up stories that the host decided that I was not good enough, or that she did not like me. The reality was that her editor was sick, and it created a delay in her schedule.

Aquarius is the observer. It helps us get out of our own minds and see the bigger picture. Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, which is the higher octave of Mercury, the planet that rules our mind and thoughts.

Working on the Mercury chapter of my book and trying to understand why our minds tend to be negative, I learned that scientists have studied this phenomenon. They call it the negative bias. They claim that we give more weight to negative information since early in our evolution, looking out for danger was more important for our survival than noticing the positive things in life.

Leo, at its low road, tends to cling to negative thoughts and blow them out of proportion to create some drama. When the negative mind takes control, we stop being creative. We fall pray to buying into our negative bias, and we get further away from the life we truly want.

Aquarius connects us with our observer which allows us to see the limiting nature of these thoughts. Each thought represents one angle, one perspective, one option. There are always more alternatives. Do you think that you are not good enough to succeed in something? There is a chance you are right. But you might also be wrong! What if actually you have everything it takes to make it? Can you be creative around that?

Dreaming & Creating

At the high road, Aquarius is the great visioner who is not afraid to dream. Leo believes that she is here to fulfill all her dreams and acts to bring them into fruition. We can harness these energies to form our dreams and to creatively build the life we truly want.

This week ask yourself:

  • Is there enough creativity in my life? If not, how can I become more creative?
  • Do I live the life I want? If not, what is holding me back? Is there a negative thought that stands in my way? can I observe it and open space for more options?
  • Do I have a grand vision for how I want my life to be?
  • How can I be creative in building the life I want?
  • Do I have enough fun, joy, romance, and entertainment in my life?
  • Do I feel that what I do makes a positive change in the world?

Venus Retrograde asks us to reflect on how we do relationships, romance and love. A conversation with a friend who has been suffering from loving someone unavailable, reminded me my falling in love with a married man. Through this miserable experience, I learned something valuable about my love life and life in general. I hope you enjoy it and find it valuable.
