During eclipses and retrogrades, we must restore our trust in our inner guides. They are connected to something bigger than us—something that knows what is right for us and for the highest good of all. 

I was accepted to one of the most prestigious art high schools but decided to attend the regional public school where my friends went instead.

For decades, I beat myself up for this decision. I could understand why, as a teenager, being with my friends overshadowed my desire to be an artist. But it was not just the boring four years I spent in a rigid, spiritless school. It was me diverting completely from my artistic aspiration. I was led on the wrong path toward economics and accounting studies and a career in the financial industry, where I was successful but miserable. 

It’s not that I kept thinking about it constantly, but my mind would spin when something triggered this memory. How did I not go to art school? How was I so stupid? Why was I afraid to venture to new territories and meet new friends? I was such a social child; I could have made friends anywhere. I saw this as one of the biggest mistakes of my life.

A few years ago, I met a friend and her daughter for an astrology reading. The daughter was at the crossroads of choosing her high school. She was an artist and had the same dilemma I had back then. She was thinking about the same art school I was accepted to. At the end of the session, I shared my regret about not attending this art school. 

My friend casually said, “You are so lucky you did not go there!”. That came as a total surprise. My friend is a successful artist herself. To my shocked “Why?”, she answered that back then, almost every girl who went to this school was sexually harassed by her teachers. She disclosed that her mother did not allow her to go there for that reason. “You were saved,” She told me. 

Thirty years of regret and anger at myself for making the wrong choice melted like butter on a hot pan. There was no more regret, no more anger. For the first time, I realized that I had made the right choice. I protected myself from something much worse than my financial career. I was sexually harassed at almost every position I had, but in a much gentler way than I would have been as an aspiring teenage artist wanting to satisfy an abusive art teacher. 

At the time of this revelation, I had already restored my relationship with my inner guide after years of being led by self-doubt to all the wrong places. My renewed trust in my inner guide led me to marry my soulmate, have my magical son, become an astrologer and writer, and all the things that make me in love with my life. Nevertheless, this realization about my high school choice strengthened my faith in my inner guidance.

This week, a lot is going on in the heavens. We are between the Lunar and Solar Eclipses, and Mercury and Venus both retrograde. Pisces season alone can sometimes feel confusing and disorienting if we are not used to Piscean energies. 

When so much is happening, we must go within and find our inner guide. We need to trust that our inner guides are connected to something bigger than us – something that knows better than we do what serves our higher good and, therefore, the higher good of all. 

All children are linked to their inner voice; I am sure you were, too. Then life happens, and we start doubting ourselves because we don’t see the big picture, just like I was sure I made a mistake when I did not. We then lose our sacred connection with our inner guide and stop listening to it. If we want to live our best life, we must restore our trust in our inner guide. 

This week, get quiet and listen to your inner guide. Ask her for instructions and directions. Tell her that you trust her with all your heart. Tell her you want her to lead your way, and promise never to doubt her again. Then, open yourself to her messages. They might come to you in your dream, through journaling, or other signs.
