Shine Your Light with Confidence

February 8, 2025

It’s challenging to shine your light if you were not the center of the universe in your childhood. The Full Moon in Leo could help!

“5 AM is not a time to wake up,” I mumbled under my sleep mask that covers most of my face. My son is usually a good sleeper, but not today. After about twenty minutes of moving restlessly next to me, we both realized he was not going back to sleep, and I allowed him to get up and start his day.

About an hour later, my son returned excited with a creature he’d made with the colorful air-dry clay we got him for Christmas. “Remember Drevel that I drew yesterday?” He asked enthusiastically, wanting to explain about the origins of the new creature. “Is it urgent?” I asked, annoyed for being woken up too early again. In a sleepy voice, I told my son I wanted to see his art but needed to sleep, and his art presentation had to wait.

Despite my annoyance, I am happy my son feels like the center of the universe. He wants to share his creativity and excitement with me and get my applause and admiration. The perception that you are the center of the universe is an essential part of being a child. You need a few years of not caring that your mother needs eight hours of sleep a night for her well-being.

It won’t take long for my son to develop an awareness of other people’s needs. I am starting to cultivate this in him. Two years ago, I would have removed my sleep mask to look at his creation at 6 AM. Today, I don’t. Now, it’s time for him to consider my needs and learn that I am the center of my universe as much as he is the center of his.

Children with siblings have to learn it much sooner than my only child. I had the privilege of maintaining his perception that he was the center of the world for a long time. I wanted this for him because I never felt I was the center of my parents’ universe. I was a somewhat cute but primarily disturbing and too demanding addition to their universe. It was more like they were the center of my world and not the other way around.

I never got to be a child, and I know you probably resonate with this. We had to mature too early as we had to understand our parents’ needs and wants. We paid a heavy price for that. It is much harder for us to find joy, be playful, and shine our light in the world. We entered the world with hesitation, constantly checking in with others to make sure we were not annoying anyone with our demands. Paying attention to all these external voices, we could not hear our inner voice and guide.

Learning to be considerate of others is easy; developing a strong, healthy sense of self, not so much. Finding the courage to shine your light is challenging, especially if you did not get the confidence to do it in childhood.

To master Leo’s wisdom, we need to connect with our inner child. We need to feel like the center of the universe and to shine our light, creativity, and joy on others. This is what this coming Full Moon in Leo wants to teach us.

As adults, we need to be considerate of others. We need to see the big picture of our actions and how they affect humanity as a whole. This is the Aquarius’ wisdom- using its brilliance and creativity to make the world a better place.

On this coming Full Moon in Leo, Wednesday, February 12, let’s connect with our inner child and feel like we are the center of the universe. Let’s think a little less about what others say and how our actions affect them and be more concerned about how we can shine our light in the world. If it sounds challenging, then great! This is the idea.

Most of us need to compensate for a lack in our childhood. Most of us care too much about others and don’t care enough about our own light and joyful expressions. By doing so, we hurt ourselves and the world. We came here to shine our light, creativity, and joy in the world. If we are always so concerned about others, we dim our light and end up giving less to the world.

Would you try this with me? I hope you do. Please share your experience in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.

Have a wonderful week.

With love,

Yael
