2022 Astrology Overview

The Important Cosmic Events Of The Year

January 18, 2022

2022 is going to be a great year. Why? Because you are going to make it great. But, from a cosmic point of view, there are some great things coming this year.

Recent Years

2020 started with a Pluto-Saturn conjunction. This was the grand opening of COVID, which brough a huge transformation (Pluto) to all social, cultural, financial, environmental, and personal structures (Saturn). There were three Pluto-Jupiter conjunctions throughout the year, out of which two involved a Saturn conjunction.  These events intensified the transformative experience.

During 2021 Saturn in Aquarius squared Uranus in Taurus. This square challenged the transformation we all had to go through.

2022 brings a refreshing spirit. Let’s see why.

Jupiter in Pisces and Aries

Jupiter, the planet of expansion, good luck, optimism, life perceptions, philosophy, beliefs, and indulgence, will be in Pieces and Aries.

Jupiter is in Pisces from Dec 28, 2021, to May 10, and again from October 29 to December 21. Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Pisces, so it feels very comfortable and expansive here. During this time, your creativity and imagination are expanded, as well as your compassion and love towards self and others. Humanity leans towards spirituality and mysticism. Can it get any better?

Yes! Jupiter will be in Aries from May 11 to October 28, and again from December 22. Jupiter circles the sun every twelve years. Entering Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, means a new Jupiter cycle, a new beginning. It is a great time to start or launch new projects. You will be more initiative, optimistic and spontaneous. You might be a little more selfish, but for many of us selfishness is something good to learn.

Freedom and Transformation

Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto have all being contributing to a huge shift and transformation in the world as we know it for quite some time. Unlike the last two years, now we know better where this is all leading us.

Saturn in Aquarius from Mars 2020 to Mars 2023. The planet of structure, order, organization, success, and career is in the sign of innovation, freedom, humanitarianism, community, futurism, excitement, brilliance, and rebelliousness. This is a time of undermining old structures and creating new structures. As work moved from offices to homes, we have a higher degree of freedom to choose where we’d like to live. There is a huge influence on the family structure and the amount of time we spend together with our kids and spouses. For some people with families there is less privacy and less alone time. For some people with no families, there is too much alone time and not enough social interaction.  There is a significant migration from big cities to smaller towns, while office towers and huge malls stand empty. Many took the pandemic period as a time for contemplation which resulted in lots of career changes.

Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius is in Taurus from March 2019 to April 2026. Taurus is the sign of values, money, tradition, routine and sensual pleasur. This position has brought a change to our financial world, to our sensual pleasures, to what we value, to our habits and the way we lead our lives. As we need to keep social distancing, to travel less and stay in more, our whole world is deconstructed.

Pluto is in Capricorn form Nov 2008 to March 2023. Next year Pluto will move to Aquarius, and we can expect more transformation in Aquariusy matters. But so far, the planet of transformation is in Capricorn, the sign ruled by Saturn. Hence, we have seen a huge transformation in organizations and work structure.

North Node in Taurus

The North Node moves from Gemini to Taurus on January 19.

In a birth chart, the North Node indicates your evolution, while the South Node indicates your comfort zone, habits and patterns that stand in the way of your evolution. The current position of the North Node determines our potential evolution. The North Node transitions between signs about every year and a half. In Taurus we have an opportunity to strengthen our financial abilities, our relationship with money, and our ability to enjoy the simple things of life through our senses. I think we can all enjoy a taste of that.

On July 31 the North Node will conjunct Uranus in Taurus and will accelerate the changes Uranus brings to Taurus.

Solar and Lunar Eclipses in Taurus & Scorpio

The transition of the North Node also changes the solar and lunar eclipse axis. Last year, most eclipses where on the Gemini – Sagittarius axis. This year they will be in Taurus and Scorpio.

  • April 30 – Solar Eclipse in Taurus
  • May 16 – Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio
  • October 25 – Solar Eclipse in Scorpio
  • November 8 – Lunar Eclipse in Taurus

These eclipses are great opportunities to find balance between your need for a deep, transformative, meaningful life; a life of walking on the edge and taking risks (Scorpio), and a simple, stable life of financial security and sensual pleasures (Taurus). The common ground of these two signs is sensuality, they both love to be in their bodies. This can be a very sensual, sexual, and sexy year. Enjoy it.

Happy Venus Conjunctions

Speaking about sensuality and sexuality, Venus is very much on our side this year.

Venus conjuncts the sun on January 8 and October 22. This conjunction is called Venus Star Point. During the time around these conjunctions, you can more easily empower your self-worth. You can recognize your value in existing relationship, connect to your needs and wants from your relationships and bring more authenticity to your relationships.

Venus conjunct Mars on February 16 and March 6. Venus usually conjuncts Mars once every two years or so. This year it conjuncts Mars twice. These conjunctions can begin a new cycle of romantic relationship or strengthen an existing relationship by bringing passion and sexuality into it. Exciting.

Retrogrades

We must have some challenges too. The year opens with Venus retrogrades, ends with Mars retrogrades, and includes four (not the usual three!) Mercury retrogrades. The most important thing to remember about these retrogrades is that they are not meant to harm us. They are part of the rhythm of the seasons, they asks us to  go inwards in order to grow and evolve through the challenges they present.

Venus Retrograde

Venus Retrograde started on Dec 19, 2021 and ends on January 29. This is a great time to redefine your self-worth, your relationship with yourself, with others, and with money. It allows you a deep connection with your needs and wants and asks that you bring authenticity to your relationships.

Mercury Retrograde

This year brings four Mercury retrogrades:

  1. From January 14 to February 3 in Aquarius and Capricorn- Aquarius is the sign of brilliant, out of the box original and innovative thinking. When Mercury retrogrades in Aquarius, we might feel a little dumb. It will be harder to be brilliant and innovative. Aquarius is also the sign of technology, so expect lots of technological disruptions. Make sure to back up your computer! In Capricorn, we might experience a difficulty in focusing on work.
  1. May 10 to June 3 in Taurus and Gemini – During the retrograde in Gemini you might have a hard time to communicating yourself with others. During the retrograde in Taurus, you might experience annoying last minute changes to plans and schedules.
  1. September 9 to October 2 in Libra and Virgo – During the retrograde in Libra the emphasis will be on communication with your meaningful/romantic relationships. During the retrograde in Virgo, your thought process might not be as sharp and analytical as usual.
  1. December 29 to January 18, 2023 in Capricorn – might bring challenges in communication and mental processes related to work.

Mars Retrograd

Mars retrogrades about every two years. This time it will retrograde in Gemini from October 30 to January 12, 2023. Mars is the planet of action, energy, initiation, assertiveness, and sexuality. When Mars retrogrades, you might feel more passive than usual, your energy might be low. There can also be a higher tendency to outbursts with anger, especially if you are usually not great with expressing your anger. During this time, it is important to carefully choose your projects and struggles. Make sure you do not exhaust yourself. If you have a healthy fire, meaning that you are generally a joyful person with lots of energy, bluntly honest about your feelings and have a somewhat high volume, this period would be easier for you.

I wish you a wonderful 2022. May this be the best year you’ve had so far, and this will only be the beginning.
